Remember When Tony Abbot Said…

Liberal leader.
Marathon runner.
Conservative Christian.

Well that was one boat that did get stopped, wasn’t it,

Tony, when asked if the captain from the Costa Concordia could help with Abbott’s immigration policy by a breakfast radio presenter.

You can’t teach this kind of class.

was a bit like the Irishman who lost 10 pounds betting on the Grand National and then lost 20 pounds on the action replay

—Oh Tony. Really? An Irish Joke? Bet they loved it … oh wait … no

Maybe that’s a comment on the quality of our economists rather than on the merits of the argument.

Tony - don’t you remember the rule? don’t hate the player(s), hate the game

(Oh and the study he cited in support? It was declared invalid on procedural grounds, but not before being accused on dishonesty, misleading statistics, selectively discarding results, plagiarism…)

The mining industry is fighting for its survival

Dear Tony,

Mining contributes about 5.6% of Australia’s Gross Domestic Product (which according to the World Bank equates to $51.7b) and employs 129,000 Australians, (about 1.3% of the total labour force)

It made $93.6b profit in the past year, 30% of total nationwide profits.

It will export $83b in 2011-12 and an estimated $218b in 12-13.

Can we get some of that “struggling” industry cash?
